Write your business plan section by section

Updated September 28, 2026

Open your startup and click Plan in the left menu. The plan has three tabs at the top: Editor, Preview and Settings.

The business plan editor
The business plan editor

The editor

  • The Sections list on the left takes you to each part of the plan: Concept, Opportunity, Market, Product, Business Strategy, Competitors, Customers, Marketing, Financials, Roadmap, Risks & Challenges, Team and Traction.
  • Progress above the list shows how much of the plan you've filled in.
  • Every text block starts with a short guide (for example "Mission Statement" with a few lines on what to write). Click Read more for the full explanation and an example.
  • Write in the text box under the guide. The toolbar has headings, bold, italic, lists, links, images, tables and file uploads.

Changes save automatically. The "Last saved" line at the top shows when.

Where the plan gets its content

Some sections are filled from other steps:

  • Financials shows the charts and tables from your budgets.
  • Team shows the people from your team page.
  • Company name, logo and contact details on the cover come from Settings → General.

Tips

  • Write the pitch first. Many plan sections go deeper on the same questions.
  • You don't have to fill in every block. Remove blocks you don't need (see Add sections, charts, SWOT and other widgets).
  • Check Preview now and then to read the plan as others will see it.
