Start from an industry template

Updated September 28, 2026

A template is a complete sample business plan for one industry, for example a coffee shop, restaurant, food truck, daycare or real estate agent. Each has a pitch, every plan section, SWOT, personas, competitors and a 3-year budget with startup costs.

Use a template

  1. Click Templates in the left menu (or the Templates tab on the Startups page).
  2. Filter by industry, or scroll the list. Each card shows the sample business and key numbers, like startup costs and year-2 sales.
  3. Click Preview to read the sample plan first (read-only).
  4. Click Use this template and enter your business name.
  5. Cuttles creates a new startup for you: a full copy of the template with your name in place of the sample business name.

Make it yours

The copy is yours to edit like any other startup. Work through it in this order:

  1. Pitch: replace the sample idea, customers and numbers with your own.
  2. Budget: replace the sample costs, prices and volumes. The charts in your plan update automatically.
  3. Plan sections: rewrite each section for your business. Anything that still describes the sample business should go.
  4. Team: the team members in a template are placeholders. Replace them with your real team.

Good to know

  • A template copy counts as one of your startups (Seed 1, Grow 3, Series unlimited), and you need an active plan or trial to create it.
  • The numbers in templates come from public sources for that industry, but your costs and prices will differ. Treat them as a starting point.
  • New templates are added regularly. You can also browse them on cuttles.io/business-plans.
