It’s a narrower need than a regular docking station — you’re not adding ports to one machine, you’re sharing peripherals across two. The classic case is a work laptop sitting next to a personal machine, or a Mac next to a Windows desktop, where buying a second monitor and keyboard for the second machine feels wasteful.

What to check before buying, regardless of price
