Why there’s no single "4 monitor arm" to just add to cart
I looked. Nobody sells a clean, well-reviewed four-monitor mount as one unit — what exists on Amazon in this category tops out at dual mounts, single arms, and no-clamp risers. So a four-screen desk is always an assembly job: two dual mounts stacked, one dual mount plus two singles, or a mix of arms and risers depending on what your monitors actually weigh. That’s not a workaround, it’s the honest shape of the category, and it’s the same logic behind my three-monitor setup guide — just with one more screen and one more clamp to plan for.
The first decision that actually matters is whether your four monitors are the same size and weight, or a mixed bag. Weight, not size, is the number that matters
Every recurring complaint I’ve read across arms in this category — sagging, drifting, wobbling at extension — traces back to the same mistake: buying an arm rated for a weight range your monitor doesn’t fall into. Gas-spring arms are tuned to a range, not a maximum, and a light monitor on a heavy-duty arm will drift upward just as reliably as a heavy monitor will sag on a light one. Weigh each monitor without its stand before you order anything, and match arm to weight rather than shopping by price or brand name. This gets more important with four screens, not less, because you’re now making that decision four times over instead of once.
The wall almost everyone hits: mismatched VESA mounts
Somewhere in a four-monitor build there’s usually one screen — older, cheaper, or a spare from someone’s desk — that doesn’t have standard VESA mounting holes. One computer, or several?
Four monitors off one machine means checking your GPU or laptop dock actually outputs to four displays — that’s a laptop gear and monitor compatibility question, not a mounting one.
